Life is Too Short; Why Not Be Happy

I recently closed my business and am in the process of looking for a new career. When talking with people about this process, they often ask why? new-year-new-you

My answer: “Life is too short. I want to do so many things in life. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself. I want to make a bigger splash than what I can do alone. I want to always be happy.” Most people respond with a “wow” or “good for you.” I think it’s because most people are afraid of change or the unknown, and I am not. I hope to be an example for others in this process.

My goal is to work for a company whose core values are aligned with mine. I want to find a company that I can grow with, help and be a part of their success. I am applying for senior-level sales and marketing positions at organizations that have a mission and vision I believe in. A few examples are…Carvana, GoDaddy, Dignity Health, and Phoenix Children’s Hospital. I am sure I will find more along the way.

Cheers to finding your happy place…

Guide to Compression

Are you new to wearing compression, or have you owned compression gear and felt that it cost more than it was worth?  The benefits of wearing compression will only be revealed to the wearer if they are following these 5 rules:

1.) Make sure you are wearing the right size- get measured!

At All About Compression, we do our best to fit each patient in the right sizes for their body, accounting for the length of their legs, the circumference of their calves and ankles, and the shoe size of the wearer. The best way to ensure daily compliance- which is rule number 2!

2.) The more you wear it, the better you feel.

3.) Do NOT wear your compression while asleep unless instructed to for surgical purposes.

Unless you get specific instructions from your provider to wear your compression gear while you are asleep, it is not good for you to wear them when your feet and your heart are at the same level.  Compression works to pump the blood back up to your heart to help work against gravity and increase circulation in your body, this is unnecessary when you are not working against gravity.

4.) Don’t settle; there are options!

Think about the colors, the patterns, the comfort of the different choices available to you!  Why settle for the drugstore brand compression stockings that will be itchy, lose their compression faster, and leave you wishing you never bought them, when you could find a pair that complements you and makes your legs sing with joy!

5.) Remember to love your body and give it the help it needs.

And She Shall Eat Chocolate

WARNING!  VALENTINE’S DAY IS FAST APPROACHING

babyyourlegs_tights_2

The heart wants what the heart wants, ask any women, and she’ll say she wants chocolate this Valentine’s Day.  I wonder why this is?  Could it be because chocolate is delicious and melts in your mouth.  Well yes.  But could it also be because chocolate has a greater purpose for your body?  YES. Dark chocolate has been proven to help with circulatory health, according to Everyday Health article listed below.

Did you know?  Pregnant women who eat dark chocolate every day can improve the circulatory health for both their babies and themselves! According to Everyday Health,

“Pregnant women who nibble just a small piece of chocolate each day may improve the circulatory health of their unborn child, a new study suggests.  The tiny treat may also reduce the risk for preeclampsia, a potentially deadly condition in which a pregnant woman with normal blood pressure suddenly develops dangerously high blood pressure”.

So while you are considering what to get for Valentine’s day, treat your tastebuds and your body with some love and get yourself dark chocolate!  Also, don’t forget to wear  your compression stockings to help with circulatory health as well!  They’ll help you feel rejuvenated, and trust me, your legs with thank you!

Exercise is a very important pillar in sustaining a healthy lifestyle.  Not only does exercise help with the chemical balance in the brain releasing endorphins, it also helps prevent heart disease and high blood pressure.

Wearing compression stockings during and post exercise work hand in hand to help your blood flow and give you more energy throughout the day. They also help you recover faster after your workout. Compression stockings are a wonderful tool to use to help with circulation and aiding in the prevention of blood clots as well.

New Year. New You!

new year new youDid you make a New Year’s resolution? Did you make new goals for 2015? Was your resolution to eat better, exercise more, make more money, save more money, or all of the above? How is it going so far? If you are like most people, you will set a New Year’s resolution and/or lofty goals, then start to lose momentum after the first month or two. Why not set monthly goals? At the end of each month, set your goal for the following month, then it may not feel so overwhelming and you will probably reach the goals.

Maybe your goal for next month could be taking care of yourself better. If you are healthy and happy, life will be better all around. Treat your body like it’s your best friend. It will treat you the same way back.
